Bulk rail ticket buying

Minister of Railways (Mr ' McLachlan) said today. ' The Minister said that alii other tickets would be honoured —“and there is no question that passengers will be asked to make up the difference” between the new price and the old. “Date-stamping of 10-trip tickets started on December 18 and it is only those stamped tickets sold between then and January 31, at the present fares, which will not be valid after February 29,” he said. “This has been done to prevent bulk buyers holding up queues at railway stations and also to prevent their taking advantage of other rail passengers.” The new charges for all rail fares and freight would come into effect on February 1, but holders of stamped 10-trip tickets have been given a month’s grace to use them in the normal way. “Those who bought unstamped tickets in bulk before December 18. however, will not be affected,” said Mr McLachlan.
