Resuscitation equipment stolen from a doctor’s car in Christchurch early yesterday is urgently needed for treating accident victims, according to its owner, Dr M. F. Fahey. Dr Fahey has appealed tol the thieves not to damage! the equipment, but to let him ! know where he can pick it! up. “The equipment is irreplaceable at the moment, and! it is vital that we have it for treating accident victims ini the next few weeks,” Dr I Fahey said. The equipment—used fori treating patients at accident
scenes—took five years to assemble. Its value is about $6OO. The theft occurred about 2.15 a.m. yesterday, soon after Dr Fahey had returned from the scene of an accident at Spencerville, in which two persons were injured. Thieves used a jemmy to prise open the boot of the i doctor’s car, and escaped with a quantity of drugs. These were used for resuscitating victims at road accidents, and could be dangerous in the wrong hands, Dr Fahey said. One of the bags stolen was made of aluminium covered with blue canvas. The other, which contained the oxygen equipment, was bright red.
