Cook flight in balloon postponed
After waiting three weeks for the right wind and cloud conditions, the balloonists planning to fly over Mount Cook packed their gear and returned home yesterday. The chief pilot. Squadron Leader Roly Parsons, said at' the Westland National Park' headquarters at Fox Glacier that winds had been too strong and cloud too heavy. Winds yesterday reached 60 knots. Squadron Leader Parsons is' attempting the first balloon flight over Mount Cook in his balloon. West Wind. It is hoped to attempt the flight next week-end, although this! will depend on the weather. “When the right weather comes, three television people and myself will charter a lignt aircraft in Wellington and fly down here,” he said. “The other balloonist.
