Long game
Ten Waikato footballers claimed a world record yesterday after 69 hours of non-stop soccer. Two fiveman teams kicked off at Hamilton Y.M.C.A. on Friday morning. They broke the old 67hr 42min record about 4.45 a.m. yesterday and continued until 6 a-m. — three hours short of their target of 72 hours. The players, from Cameron Soccer Club, were playing to raise money for a club ground and rooms in Ngaruawahia. The players had breaks of five minutes every 45 minutes, and no players were allow to drop out through injury or exhaustion.
