WITNESSES BAPTISED
Five new ministers were baptised by water immersion in a ceremony at the Heaton Street Scho.ol. The ceremony was one of the highlights of a week-end convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses attended by delegates from Christchurch, Kaiapoi, and Rangiora. The men and women candidates for baptism will work as door-to-door ministers of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Candidates were addressed by Mr D. Cox, Who said they would be symbolising their dedication to do God’s will in the future. “Mankind’s present condition shows that in regard to his life here on earth he needs help from a higher source,” an audience of more than 700 was told by Mr B. Bines, district overseer for Jehovah’s Witnesses in New Zealand.
He gave a public talk on “How the Kingdom of God affects you.”
Re-elected. — Mr A. K. Ibboison has been re-elected president of the Cancer ■Society of New Zealand. —
