WOMEN’S SOFTBALL
Burnside, the host team, won tlie Burnside Motors women’s softball tournament at Malvern Park yesterday, it was unbeaten, and in second place was Monowai, another Christchurch team.
Burnside did not have to play Wrigbtcars Royals of Nelson in its final game. Earlier it had beaten South Canterbury and Kiwi All Stars comfortably.
The South Canterbury game was called off in tlie third innings with Burnside ahead 15,0 against the hapless opposition.
Results: — Wrightcar Royals 9. United 8; Burnside 15. South Canterbury 0; Monowai 19, Kiwi All Stars 5; I Monowai 13. Wrightcars Royals [3; United 18. South Canterbury 2; Burnside 16. Kiwi All Stars 3; Monowai 7, United 1; Burnside 7, Wrightcar Royals 0. Christchurch West lost all three of its matches in a touma ment in Wellington won by Broadway, the national club champion, the Press Association reported. Christchurch West lost 2-8 to Broadway, 0-4 to Metro, and 10-16 to Saints. United, of Auckland earlier beat Broadway 6-1 in a ■surprise result.
