Suspicious fires

Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, Oct. 27

Detectives were called to investigate two fires in Miramar factories early this morning. Firemen were called at 3.41 a.m. to Dunlop Engineering in Park Road, and found a fire burning slowly but strongly in a storeroom and

spreading into the roof. The blaze was under control in 20 minutes. The coni tents of the storeroom were destroyed and the roof over the main workshop severely [damaged. The firemen were still at the scene when a security officer checking premises in the area reported a fire at Tyree-Power Construction, also in Park Road. A couch was burning in a rest room.

Detectives inspected both premises later this morning and confirmed that both had been broken into, but apparently nothing had been stolen. Detective Sergeant P. D. Moore said arson was “very [likely” the cause of both I fires.
