Seed centre welcomed
Professor B R. Watkin, of Massey University, has welcomed the decision bv the .Ministry of Foreign Affairs 'to establish a seed technology 'training and research centre at Massey as part of New Zealand's overseas aid programme. Sixty technicians and 201 graduates from South-East Asia and the Pacific will receive training in seed technology during the centre's first four years. They will! then return to their home countries to help set tm seed improvement programmes. Many developing countries' were aware of the importance; of good seed bur lacked, skilled peopit to make im-| iprovements. Professor Wat-1 kin said. A senior lecturer in agronomy at Massey. Dr M J. Hill, has been appointed director of the centre.
