Aust, share rise cont.
Australian stock exchanges reached higher levels in moderately active trading yesterday, in continuation of the upsurge in share prices. The market is now at its highest level since mid-June of last year, and in the past month of trading, only three or four trading sessions closed on an easier note. Retail issues were again leading the upsurge. Grace Bros rose 15c to 185 c, after having remained untraded the past three sessions. BHP was steady, while EZ Industries, Burns Philp, ASL, Lend Lease, Tooheys, Tooth and Amatil recorded gains. Among the mining shares gold issues attracted strong support, on reports that the pound had sunk to its lowest level in history. North BH, Robe River, AM and S, Kathleen, and Hamersley were well supported.
