Acquisition of wool
The New Zealand Wool Buyers’ Association would not oppose acquisition of the national clip, unless it incorporated some restrictions |on auctions or on buyers’ [full access to wool. The association’s president (Mr D. K. McDonald) told the annual meeting in Christchurch yesterday that whether the Wool Marketing Corporation proceeded to full control of the clip by compulsory acquisition remained [to be seen. “I hope not,” he said, “but our association’s view remains unchanged. While we would not recommend such a step, if growers decided it was in their best interests to proceed with total acquisition, then we would not oppose it, unless it incorporated restrictions on auctions or access to wool."
