Research and action
Sir, — I agree entirely with the Concept put forward (by Mark D. Sadler in relation to research and action as it applies to New Zealand, i The September issue of a “Pharmacy News” magazine leaflet reports on “new hope (for migraine sufferers.” MenItion is made of the fact that possibly one New Zealander in 10 is incapacitated by these blinding headaches. My sister has been ordered by her doctor to retire from a responsible position as chief reporter on a Dunedin newspaper, because of migraine, mainly resulting from stress. Medical researchers have been unable to determine the basic cause, and local doctors in the majority’of cases are (reluctant to seek this relevant ■ material from patients. The latest drug available for (migraine treatment was discovered in Germany, and 'there are many clinics in England, but New Zealand Hags behind in its promised 'research into migraine. — i Yours, etc., j WAITING AND HOPING.
