Medal for rescue
(N.Z. Press Association > NEW PLYMOUTH. Oct. 2, A 10-year-old New Plymouth boy, Tony A’Court, who saved his sister from drowning just over three months ago, has been awarded a gold medal by the Governor-General (Sir Denis Blundell). Tony earned his merit award for assisting his mother, who rescued her baby daughter after she fell in the family swimming pool on June 22 at Wanganui. Tony, who learned arti- : ficial resuscitation as a ' cub, showed his mother how to revive his sister and then rang the police and ambulance. Mrs W. M. A’Court said : today that Tony had kept I everything under control ■ during the incident. The family moved to New Plymouth about a I month ago. Tony will ! travel to Wanganui to be i presented with his medal I by the district commis- ' sioner for the Wanganui I ! coastal scout district (Mr ' R. I. Hotter) on October 11.
