Wool prices short
For most of the wool offered at the second Christchurch sale of the season yesterday prices in the auction room fell short of floor prices, and growers will receive supplementary payments. These will range from one or two cents to 40c per kilogram. Compared with the last sale in Dunedin on September 11, medium to extra strong halfbred and Corriedale fleece and medium and coarse crossbred fleece were firm, extra fine and fine halfbred slight!) dearer, and fine crossbred barelv steady. Merino was erratic, and tended easier.
The Wool Marketing Corporation intervened in the market to bid on more than GO oer cent of the wool, but had only a little over 16 ner cent of the offering passed to it. The lop price was 221 c for Merino wool from Marlborough. (Details, page II).
