Slip work expensive
Work to prevent further slips on the Heathcote access road could cost the Christchurch-Lyttelton Road Tunnel Authority up to $15,000, the authority was told yesterday. A plan to ease the slope’s gradient and to keep it more stable will be presented to the Christchurch Drainage Board, and to the North Canterbury Catchment Board, before tenders can be called for the work proposed by Lovell, Smith and Associates. The tunnel authority will ask the boards about a possible subsidy for the project.
