“SHOULDER TO SHOULDER”

I I wish to know the reaI soning behind the proI gramming of “Shoulder to : Shoulder” so late on a Sunday night. One suspects that the reasoning behind this [move may be to deny a large percentage of the population enjoyment of this] programme. It is of great| historical and social significance for all age groups — both young and adult. Another reason may be males, and society’s discomfort at having present- ! day anomalies brought to, I the fore. — J. A. RANKIN. RADIO I agree with D.A.H. on the change in radio in New Zealand since April 1. Before that date my radio was switched on at 7 a.m. for the news, weather and good music. Since the introduction of “Morning Report,” which starts and ends; with an irritating piece of; “music” with continual chat-] ter in between, my radio is' silent. Why at 7 o’clock three announcers are present] also beats me. Like D.A.H., 1 too am pleased at still hav- ] ling the charming Philip Liner and the efficient Philip Sherry left. As far as I and: many of my friends are concerned, we would welcome a ] return to the N.Z.B.C. set:up. — L.M.
