Five Noahs for N.Z.
The Noahs Group of Australia plans a total of five large hotels in New Zealand — two in the South Island, and three in the North Island.
This was announced last evening by the group’s managing director (Mr G. P. Matthews) when he spoke at the opening of the Christchurch Noahs Hotel, in Cambridge Terrace.
Mr Matthews said that the group aimed to have a chain of hotels wellbalanced between Australia, and New Zealand, which would have a marked influence on Tasman travel.
"Such a chain can also have the necessary marketing muscle to increase the inflow of business from outside our own areas.”
Any new ventures in New Zealand would be owned by New Zealanders, and operated, and managed by the Australian group, he said.
"I say for the benefit of those who are worried about the ogre of foreign domination that Noahs today is purely a man-
agement service company, and not an investor in real estate. “Our role is to promote business, particularly offshore, and to provide management expertise for investors in the industry,” Mr Matthews said.
