Appointment to C.D.
WELLINGTON, Sept. 26. Mr G. G. Hood, of Christchurch, has been appointed Assistant South Island Regional Commissioner of Civil Defence, and is expected to take up the post shortly. He replaces Major R G. Aitken, who has been Assistant Reeional Commissioner since 1962 — the vear in which the Ministry of Civil Defence was established — and who is the la*t remaining officer tn New Zealand from th* inception date Mr Hood has been regional training officer with the Minfatrv of Transport He was formerK senior transport officer on the West Coast and Southland and knows the South Island well. I
