Antiques stolen
Antiques worth more than $l5OO have been stolen from an Akaroa holiday house which was to have been • turned into a museum. The antiques had close! links with the history of Akaroa. said their owner, Mr Bevan Hayson, of Auckland. Mr Hayson. a clothing manufacturer, said he had planned to turn his cottage tn Rue Balguerie into a museum. A few days ago he had received a telephone call from a neighbour to say the cottage had been broken into. Among the antiques stolen were a valuable jig doll and a gun with a carved butt, brought to Akaroa from Europe about 1840.
