Aerosol changes
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 7. A New Zealand company, Johnson’s Wax, is removing fluorocarbon propellants from all but one of its aerosol products. The remaining product was being reformulated. The company said conclusive evidence about fluorocarbons was not available, but it had decided in the public interest not to wait for confirmation. In June, a United States Federal group concluded that certain gases used as a propellant in spray cans and as a refrigerant might have to be banned because they appeared to be destroying the ozone layer of the Earth’s atmosphere.
