Sikh plans opposed
(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON. The Ministry of Works has appealed against a decision to allow the New Zealand Sikh Society to build a temple just north of the Hamilton city boundary. In May, the Waipa County Council approved the society’s application to erect the temple on State Highway I and to provide carparking facilities. But' it rejected the society’s application for consent to the construction of a house for a priest, a hockey field, swimming pool, changing rooms, motel, extensions to the main hall, and service rooms. The proposed facilities were to be sited on land between Te Rapa and Horotiu. The Ministry’s appeal will be heard by the Town and Country Planning Appeal Board.
