Napier wool down
(N.Z. Press Association) ■ NAPIER, 1 September 5. The wool market slipped at Napier today. Prices at the Napier sale . were officially quoted as unchanged, apart from oddments, which were slightly dearer, compared with the Aucki land sale also held at Napier earlier in the ! day. This is said in the official report issued by the Hawke’s Bay Woolbrokers’ Association in conjunction with the New Zealand Wool Buyers’ Association and the New Zealand Wool Marketing Corporation. At the Auckland sale the market for second-shear was fully 2| to 5 per cent cheaper, compared with the Wellington-Wanganui sale last week. Fleece wool and oddments were in buyers’ favour, and crutchings inclined to be er- , ratic. The Continent and New Zealand and Australian carpet mills were the principal
buyers at both the Auckland! and Napier sales. The Napier sale attracted 12,970 bales of greasy wool, which comprised 25 per cent crutchings, 45 per cent ■ second-shear, and 30 per • cent oddments. I There were some attractive lines of second-shear and first crutchings, but unpicked or poorly picked ■ crutchings were in evidence. RANGE OF PRICES The following is the official range of prices:
