Test for Wellington

(Special Crspdt. fr.z P.A ) DUBLIN. Wellington and not Auckland will get the one international the Irish Rugby union team will play in New Zealand during its sevenmatch tour next May. During a short tour a touring side usually plays the All Blacks at Eden Park, but according to Irish sources the venue has been changed because Wellington has been deprived of test matches of late. Ireland wjll also be the first short-tour team to meet Auckland province rather than an All Blacks side in Auckland. The Irish Rugby Football Union, however, has not yet accepted the tour itinerary proposed by the New Zealand Rugby Football Union as the latter has put forward the idea of a match against Fiji in Suva after the New Zealand leg of the tour.

As Fiji played at Landsdown Road, Dublin, in September, 1973, the I.R.f’.u. may feel obliged to return the compliment The tourists’ other proposed matches are against Canterbury (Christchurch). North Auckland (Whangarei), Manawatu (Palmerston North), South Canterbury (Timaru), and Southland (Invercargill).
