PLANNER TO STUDY FOR JOB
Rolleston’s community development officer (Mr R. Routledge) will leave next monfi'i for a year’s study overseas. Mr Routledge’s job is to encourage the social development of the proposed new town. He has been helping social planners in the Rolleston planning group and explaining the project to community .groups. The planners have made an appeal for views on the new: town, and Mr Routledge has! been involved in assessing! the response. He has also: made contact with various: agencies with which he will work when he returns. “There has been a tremendous amount of interest in Rolleston and the feed-back from the community has been most stimulating,” he said. “Il I feel manv people are becom-i ling increasingly concerned for I a more simple and open life-' (style, and so the future (promises well for Rolleston.” ■ Mr Routledge will leave for 'Britain on September 16 and he will study at Manchester University for a diploma in community development. Before returning to Rolleston he will look at community development projects in new towns in Britain and Australia.
