MIGRANT RATE FALLS
I'X.Z. Press Association’ WELLINGTON. Aug. 28. The Government’s new immigration controls had proved ven effective, the Minister of Immigration | (Mr Colman) said in a I statement today. I The intake of migrants [from the United Kingdom in [June this year had been 70.2 [per cent lower than in the [same month of 1974. Total [immigration from all other sources had also fallen. The net gain in permanent and long-term migration for the 12 months to April. 1975. iwas 21.777, a drop of 21 per cent from the net gain for the year ending April. 1974.
