New library
Sir, — I have just heard cf the City Council’;, proposal to call for submissions of a design for a new public library building. At a time like this, when the council is extended financially, I feel it would be prudent to investigate the possibility of using one of Christchurch's older buildings sueh as the old University site, where parking space, the open gardens and cloistered walks, could, with good planning leave Christchurch with a beautiful library at far less cost.
