MARKET QUIET BUT FIRM
The New Zealand sharemarket continued to firm yesterday, in a day of quiet trading. Few of the regularly traded stocks sold lower; N.Z. Refrigerating and Waitaki reacted to the news of their intended merger with small losses. Midland lost 2c on news of slightly lower profit. Balling gained 4c to 94c. Pastoral stocks and insurances did well.
