Table tennis play-off
Last year's men’s and women's A grade table tennis champions. Canterbury and Hamilton, were last evening forced to play off in the promotion-relegation series, which followed this year's i inter-association teams contest at Cowles Stadium. Canterbury retained its A grade status in the men's section by beating the B grade ! winner Otago. 6-3. However. | Hamilton was relegated to the women’s B grade when it lost Ito Wellington. 5-6. ! North Shore was promoted ’ from the C grade to B grade in the men’s division, beating South Canterbury, 6-5. Martborough gained entry to the same grade in the women's section. after downing Nelson, 6-2. Promotion-relegation match reisuits were—Men: Canterbury 6, 'Otago 3; North Shore 6, South i Canterbury 5; North Taranaki 6, Marlborough 5. Women: Welllington 6. Hamilton 5; Marlborough 6, Nelson 2; North Shore 9. Southland 2.
