Mr Muldoon will not play
\Z Press Association! AUCKLAND, 26. A “shoot the politicians” stall, planned to feature at the Come Alive carnival at the Epsom Show Ground. Auckland, on Friday. Saturday, and Sunday, has run into opposition. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr Muldoon) has refused permission for his picture to appear on the stall to be shot at by the public. He said today that he disliked what lie thought was a distinctly commercial flavour about the carnival. He also objected on the grounds that the Come Alive campaign was a Labour promotion and
that the carnival was being opened by the Labour M.P. for Eden (Mr M. K. .Moore). "I don’t like any part of it." he said. The organisers of the carnival, Messrs ,1. McGill and P. Logan, are upset about Mr Muldoon's decision. When the,\ telephoned the Prime Minister (Mr Rowling) in Wellington seeking permission for the use of his picture in the stall, Mr Rowling agreed. Mr McGill said today that the stall would still go ahead: “We won't be using Mr Muldoon's photo, but he will be represented in some form which the public will find easily recognisable."
