Week-end sport disrupted

Most of today’s lowergrade and junior sport in Christchurch has been cancelled and some senior fixtures affected by the heavy mid-week rain.

The curtain-raiser scheduled for Lancaster Park Oval and a premier grade Rugby league match have been transferred to other grounds today because of weatheraffected pitches. All Rugby below senior grade is off, and the Canterbury Under-19 v. North Canterbury second grade representative game has been transferred from Lancaster Park to Waltham Park, still at 1 p.m. However, both teams are to report to Lancaster Park at noon.

The premier Rugby league match between Kaiapoi and Woolston, scheduled for the Show Grounds, will now be played at Spreydon Domain. All Canterbury Football Association senior and junior matches have been called off. In the Broadlands Southern League, Rangers v. Technical has been postponed, and the following are changes of venues: Woolston v. Dunedin City, Burwood No. 2, Burndale v. Nomads, Hagiey No. 2, Cashmere v. H. 5.0.8.; Hagley No. 1, New Brighton v. University, Bower Park (12.30 p.m.) All hockey matches have also been called off. Two s e c o n d-grade women’s hockey matches have been postponed until after the school holidays.
