Northern Ireland
Sir, — 1 read the article entitled “Roman Catholic fitter who does not fit” on page 12 of today’s issue of “The Press” with mixed feelings. It seems to me that “background” articles such as this should be a supplement to news reporting rather than a substitute for it. Recently “The Press” has fallen down on reporting of events in Northern Ireland. For example, there has as ’ yet been no mention of last ’Friday’s bombing in south [Armagh in which four Brit-' I ish soldiers died. Similarly, I the arrest of the I.R.A. leader David O’Connell was, (mentioned only briefly, and’ (for two weeks since then I there has been no mention of whether charges were laid against him or any other developments. Whilst I appreciate the interest value of the article you did publish, I feel the space would have been more fittingly devoted to actual news on the situation in Northern Irealand. — Yours, etc., INTERESTED READER.
