Safety in question
I (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 23. Testing facilities for electrical appliances in New Zealand may be inadequate. The acting chairman of the Auckland Electric Power Board (Mr M. R. Milne) said today that many other countries had special testing authorities to ensure the safety of electrical equipment.’ Another member of the board. Mr P. E. Dempsey, said that many foreign appliances needed wiring and circuit adjustments when they reached New Zealand to bring them up to local safety requirements. “I can see a definite need for moves to stop the reckless importation of appliances,” he said.
