(Parliamentary Reporter)
WELLINGTON, -Tune 12
North and South Island participants in* the 1975 series of export seminars organised by the Department of Trade and Industry a re to have separate programmes, the Minister ol Overseas Trade (Mr Walding) has told the Trade Promotion Council.
These would be destgned to reflect the regional export interests of each island, he said. Seminars organised for Auckland and Wellington will locus on the Arabian Gulf area. Those organised for Christchurch and Dunedin will concentrate on South-East Asia, with particular emphasis on Malaysia, in the wake of the recent and highly-successful New Zealand Industries Fair in Kuala Lumpur. “We have covered most aspects of exporting in the last five years of export seminars." said the Minister, "and a move towards topical
and more-specialised subjects should be particularly useful for our exporters—especially in view of the expanding' trade opportunities for New Zealand in the Middle East and South-East Asia.” Subjects likely to be covered at the seminars include the recently revised and extended export incentives, export finance, and transport. The series is planned for August. The Minister also said that the Government was considering a Trade Promotion Council suggestion for a “pilot” seminar on export finance and incentives to be held in a regional centre as the forerunner of a possible series in centres throughout the country.
