450 vie for U.S. goods
An auction sale of American furniture and! foreign-made household, effects attracted a crowd of more than 450 and : realised $27,550. The auctioneer, Mr C. • M-. i Robertson, said that it was ithe biggest crowd to attend ■a house auction for many • years. Parked cars stretched for three blocks from the house at 21 Glenmore Avenue, he said. “The public is intrigued with American goods,” said Mr Robertson. The sale consisted of more than 400 lots and lasted for 6 hours 40 minutes. The reason for the long sale was because Mr Robertson had difficulty controlling such a large crowd. A 1973 Pontiac Le Mans sports car with a 350 cu. in. engine, power brakes and
steering, and air' conditioning, Isold for $9OOO. It had done ! 6126 miles. A Chrysler town land country station waggon Registering 65,000 miles sold I for $4250. Two new American “His and Hers” bicycles withl extensive extras sold for | $l9O. A 96-piece Japanese i Noratake dinner set sold for; $lBO. ’A five-piece king sized bedroom suite sold for $650. and a smaller queen sized suite went for $424. A Ger-, man grandfather clock sold
for $750, two table lamps fetched $250. a Philippine i lazy Susan was bought for $75 and $3BO was paid for t. set of golf clubs with no! bag. A Seers Craftsman 12in • J radial-arm electric saw with ! I attachments was sold for< J $BOO and a 22 cu. ft deep J freeze went under the ham- ’ 'mer for $4OO. ' The sale was conducted by I; Sherris and Wilson, Ltd, for 1 ! ’ member of the American -.Deep Freeze force who was, 11 returning to California.
