'SPREADS LIKE MARG.'

NELSON. Ma\ 13 A nett type of easily spread hutter matching margarine in every respect would be on sale in commercial quantities in about a tear, said the chairman of the Dairy Research Institute (Mr B. L. Ebbett) in Nelson today.

Mr Ebbett was chairman of the Nelson section conference of the Wellington ttard of the Dairt Board.

The first hatch of the nett product would be made litis week, he said.

"The nett product tt ill match margarine in spreadability, taste, and texture. We wi’> have a world beater here.”

He now knett how difficult it ttas to bring a nett product to the marketing stage. It had been made on the test bench, and then had been evaluated by dairy factories and by sales to the public.

“Setting up the machinery on a commercial scale has been a different matter. We ran into many problems which we had not foreseen. “We hope that these have now been overcome and that we will be able to manufacture this new type of butter on a commercial scale within the next few months,” said Mr Ebbett.
