Environmental talks
Kaiapoi will have two representatives at. the second International Environmental Conference to be held in Australia from July 1 to 4. The Kaiapoi Borough Council was advised that the I Mayor (Mr B. O. Williams) I and Councillor L. Wylie, chairman of the town plani ning and by-laws committee, would attend the conference, meeting their own travel and accommodation costs.
The council agreed to pay their conference registration. Topics will cover town planning, water conservation, noise, refuse removal, natural resources and environmental control.
Kaiapoi will approach the Christchurch City Council and the Canterbury Regional Planning Authority for contributions towards the cost of papers to be prepared at the end of the conference.
