Heavy rain on lake

(N .Z. Press A ssuciation) DUNEDIN, April 10.

Tourist launches were: moved from Queenstown to; Kelvin Grove this afternoon; because of strong north-west, winds, and heavy rain after the wind raised fears that by morning the level of the lake will be higher than ever. The lake dropped a few inches today, but not enough to be significant in the light iof tonight’s rain. The Earnslaw was the only ! vessel working today, but its activities were curtailed because the wharf at Walter . Peak station was under : water.

Lake Wanaka was still about sft above its normal level of 910 ft tonight, and about 3ft of water still covered the boat jetty. No rain was falling there.
