Black is back
After several years ' of unpopularity, black is once again becoming a popular colour for cars, Ford reports.
During the last five years, only one in every 1400 Ford cars built in Europe has been black. But last year the demand for black suddenly increased, and 80 per cent of all special orders were for black. Nevertheless, red remained the most popular colour in Germany, while white was the most popular in Britain.
Once all Fords were black —- simply because the coloured paints of the day were slower-drying, and of . lower quality. Now the company offers about 15 colours — but it has also just shown a special new black Capri, complete with black bumpers, door-handles, and windowframe .mouldings.
