Paddison to move
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Gary Paddison, the Stop Out striker, has agreed on transfer terms with Auckland’s Blockhouse Bay, the team which won the inaugural Rothmans National Soccer League in 1970. Paddison. a New Zealand under-21 player, has left Stop Out at a time when its player-coach, Maurice Tillotson, sees no future for him in a striker’s role.
“He is not really in contention for the position he wants,” Tillotson said. “I have a’ lot of players like Gary at the moment who are on the fringe of getting into the first team.”
Stop Out beat Mount Wellington in the first round of the national competition last week. Paddison watched the game from the substitute’s bench.
“Mount Wellington were beaten by a team playing a better brand of football,” said Paddison. “They looked ragged and really desperate compared with a Stop Out side that was fabulous.
"The way they are playing, it could be that I won’t get a chance to play in the National League for three or four weeks—and that’s a long tuna.”
