The Hamilton soccer club has imported a second Scottish striker, John McDermid, aged 23, who Everton and Coventry City wanted to sign last season. McDermid played for Renfrewshire district representatives before joining Port Glasgow Rovers, an amateur team.
He signed with Port Glasgow Juniors, which plays in the first, division of a Scottish junior (or semi-profes-sional) league.
McDermid played four seasons with Pori Glasgow, and was named their player (of the year last season. He i was approached by English (first division clubs, Coventry I City and Everton, but his ; pending move to New Zealand prevented talks.
