Squash starts on May 5

' The squash rackets interI club competitions will start on May 5 with the men’s ,and women’s division I ! matches starting the next day.

Mr J. G. Foulds, convener of the match committee, reported to the monthly meeting of the management com- ’ mittee of the Canterbury : Squash Rackets Association I that 97 teams had been i entered.

It was decided that the ; bottom four men’s teams land the bottom two women’s I teams would be made up of | five players instead of the | usual four. This would give i more than 40 extra players jin competition play and“be- ! cause in the past most lower | matches finished well before 1 10 p.m., these games would ! still finish at a reasonable : hour.

An innovation suggested by I Mr M. R. Blank — an inter-i club team race around Hag-j ley Park — was adopted and! was set down for August 9; at 10 a.m.
