Parking for skiers
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 12. The lease held by the Mount Cook and Southern Lakes Tourist Company over the Coronet Peak ski-field has been renegotiated. The Minister of Lands (Mr Rata) said today that the company would become formally responsible for providing a complete range of facilities and amenities, sufficient to provide an adequate service for capacity crowds of patrons. “In particular,” Mr Rata said, “the company has taken over control of the car-parks and will provide 320 more parking spaces for cars, which it hopes to have available for the coming ski-ing season. “The company has undertaken to keep the parking areas clear of snow and plans to provide attendants to ensure orderly parking,” said Mr Rata.
