Private import bill up 16 p.c.
Private import payments for the year ending July would probably be about 16 per cent greater than last year’s, the Government Statistician (Mr E. A. Harris) has said. The calculation is made up of private import payments to the end of January this year, together with projections for the remaining six months.
This indicated that private import payments would average sls4m a month from February to April, and sl6sm a month from May to July, said Mr Harris.
Corresponding averages of actual payments a year earlier were sl4Bm and sl94m.
