Handicapped team for Tokyo
The names of 14 New Zealand competitors who will go to Japan in June to take part in the first Far Eastern and South Pacific Games for the Handicapped have been announced by the chairman of the Federation of Paraplegic and Physically Disabled Associations (Mr J. E. Milner).
Four of the team have taken part in international games before, including G. Condon, who with B. McNicholl forms the Christchurch contingent of the team. Six escorts will travel with the team.
The team is J. Savage (Kawarau), Condon and McNicholl (Christchurch), W. Lean (Dunedin), R. Hynds, G. Symons and A. Christianson (Tauranga), P. Chambers (Napier), A. Benjamin and Miss G. Harris (Auckland), F. Creba (Waimate), Mrs J. Douglas (Kawarau), Mrs P. Hill (Oamaru) and Miss G. Kissick (Hawera). The escorts are Messrs N. Laslett. W. Gough, D. Savage, Dr R. Laurenson and Mesdames P. Cheesman and A. Brown.
