N.Z. Games brought little bus revenue
International sporting- events in Christchurch have caused big fluctuations in the Christchurch Transport Board’s finances.
A report to the board yesterday showed that revenue for the four weeks to February 2, 1975, was down $19,736 (10.5 per cent) on the corresponding period in 1974. But running costs this year were three times greater. The general manager (Mr M. G. Taylor) told the board that during the 1974 Commonwealth Games, passenger revenue rose $61,000, half of which had come from taking people to and from Games ' venues and the rest from
business generated by the Games.
This year, the New Zealand Games brought a passenger revenue increase of $2BOO. The loss so far this financial year was sl.llm — $313,889 greater than in the corresponding period year.
Mr Taylor noted that passenger revenue this year had fallen nearly $20,000 or 10.8 percent.
