NOON FORECAST
Situation: A large anticyclone centred between Wairarapa and the Chatham Islands is moving east, but extends a ridge over most of New Zealand; a northerly airstream covers the Tasman Sea and a warm front in this flow is moving south. Forecast: Canterbury: North-easterlies fresh to strong by day about the coast but lighter
inland; fine; high cloud; warm inland, mild about the coast. Marlborough, Nelson, Buller, Westland: Light to moderate winds, mainly northerly, freshening at times about the northern sounds; fair but extensive high cloud; mild to warm day temperatures. Outlook: Scattered rain in Buller, Westland and in the west of Nelson; fail elsewhere.
