Moore still 'in dark’
(from Our Oun Reporter) LOWER HUTT. Willi Moore, the British cyclist of world standing who is seeking permanent residence in New Zealand, still does not know if he will be allowed to remain after the deadline of March 12 set by the Department of Immigration.
Moore, who has just coached the Canterbury track team at the national championships in Levin and conducted a seminar for young riders as well, has been told he may remain in the country until the department has made a decision on his application for permanent residence.
“There were repercussions | after 1 made public I was (being told to leave,” said Moore yesterday. “The Department of Imi migration in Christchurch I did not apparently even know I had been turned down, and they were on the telephone I fairly smartly. “There are now five letters of representation on th? Minister of Labour’s desk awaiting some decision, but so far there has been no reaction. It seems unlikely at the moment that I will be leaving on March 12, but what worries me is if I get a negative decision only a day or two before I would (have to go.” Moore added he was "still hoping, although not particularly optimistic.”
