Masa y u k i Kawahara j (Japan) has become the : world junior speed-skating .(champion ahead of John de 'I Vries and Joop Pasman, both of the Netherlands. 1 ] Kawahara finished sixth in (the world senior speed-skat- ’ ing titles in Sweden last ‘month. The women’s world junior ■ speed-skating championship • was won by an East German Heike Lange, with Erwina • Rys (Poland) second and ■ Tiety Postma (Netherlands) third.
