' Great man’ of flamenco dies
Aurelio Selle Nondedeu has died in Cadiz at the age of 86. This famous singer was considered as one of the last of the great men of Flamenco art, and was an intimate friend of Manolo Caracol and Enrique El Mellizo. Aurelio Selle was born in the Santa Maria district of Cadiz in 1887. His first interest was in the bulls, but he soon discovered his true vocation in singing. He mastered all the styles, but the best known part of his anthology was the malaguenas and alegrias of Cadiz. With his strong and popular personality, Aurelio Selle i was taken as a great figure 'of the cante jondo. Recently [the Flamenco Club of Cadiz I paid him a deeply felt tribute, [the Cadiz City Council gave 'his name to a street that contains an old establishment in I which the musician, by then ■ blind, took his coffee every 'day.
