Tips from All Blacks

The All Black hooker and Linwood captain, Tane Norton, has accepted an invitation to pass on some of his vast knowledge of Rugby at the Wills national coaching school for coaches in Petone this week-end. Norton and his fellow All Blacks, Andy Leslie, Hamish Macdonald, Joe Karam and Grant Batty, will demonstrate lessons learned by the New Zealand side during its tours of Australia and Ireland last year.

As well as these practical sessions on the field there

will be several indoor “workshops” to discuss coaching methods and the dissemination of ideas. The All Black coach, Mi J. J. Stewart, will be the director of the school, and two former New Zealand captains, Messrs R. C. Stuart and W. J. Whineray, will take a prominent part. A questionnaire sent to all unions last year provided a large amount of information on coaching in different areas. This was analysed by the national coaching committee, and will be used to illustrate coaching problems and solutions.
