Yesterday’s win in the Benson and Hedges InterIsland took Fury’s Order’s total stake earnings to more than $115,000, an exceptional amount for a four-year-old raced solely in New Zealand.
The $9750 he earned yesterday brought his winnings for the present season to $36,110 and his career total to $116,735 from 38 starts. He won four times in a light campaign as a two-year-old and earned $5200 for his Taranaki owner, Mr L. H. Bridgeman. Last season he recorded seven wins and six placings for $75,885 and only just failed to become the season’s leading stakes winner.
His 14 wins in addition to the Inter-Island include the New Zealand Cup, N.Z. Derby, N.Z. Two Thousand Guineas, Port Nicholson Stakes, Hawke’s Bay Cup, Wellington Guineas and Manawatu Challenge Stakes.
